Hello dear parents!

We’ve got another great idea for your kids’ healthy lunch box. Today, it’s the ham and vegetable tortillas. You can roll them and wrap them, put them in the lunch box and be happy about your kids’ healthy habits.

Let’s see what you need…

Tortillas

You would need:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 cups of water

Filling

  • ┬áHam cut in thin strips
  • Cheese cut in thin strips (you can use any type of cheese)
  • Fresh lettuce
  • Grated carrots
  • Cottage cheese (or a simple cheese spread) to spread all over tortillas

Preparation

Put flour and salt in a bowl, add water and oil, and stir until you get a good, firm piece of dough. Knead the dough on the floured surface. Separate the dough into few smaller portions and knead each again to get a flat tortilla in which you will put the filling. These measurements are enough for 8 tortillas.

Put a little oil on a frying pan and fry each tortilla for a minute on both sides. Once the tortillas are finished, you can start adding the filling. First, cover the tortillas with either a cheese spread or a cottage cheese. Don’t put too much because it will flow out of the tortilla the minute your child takes the first bite. Just put a little bit in order to avoid dryness in tortilla. Then spread a lettuce leaf and put strips of ham and cheese all over tortilla. At the end, spread grated carrot all over it and roll the tortilla. Repeat the same with others.

Now you have a nice, healthy snack for kids. Put tortillas in a tin foil and then place them in your child’s lunch box. If you are left with extra tortillas, it’s great to use them for lunch, dinner or your lunch break at work.
