Have you ever tried to carve an orange for the Halloween? We bet you didn’t think of it, did you? Well, today we have an idea you can surprise your kids with, this Halloween. Let’s prepare carved oranges and stuff them with the most delicious chocolate mousse!
How to carve oranges?
For carving oranges, you will need a knife, a teaspoon, washable marker and a soft cloth. Draw your design on the orange skin with a washable marker. Cut 1 inch off the top of the orange and carefully remove the orange pulp with a teaspoon. Cut the drawn design on the orange skin and use a soft cloth to remove the marker’s lines. Voilà! You have your carved orange ready!
This is what we need for the mousse
- 50g of butter
- 200g of dark chocolate
- 4 eggs
- 2 tablespoon of caster sugar
- 1 cup of cream (250ml)
Let’s prepare the surprise!
Now that you have all the ingredients ready, let’s get busy preparing the surprise!
- Melt chocolate and butter in the microwave
- Whip the cream
- Whisk the egg whites
- Sprinkle caster sugar on top of the egg whites
- Mix egg whites and caster sugar to get a thick mixture
- Stir the egg yolks into the chocolate mixture
- Fold through the cream
- Fold through the mixture of the whipped egg whites
Once the mousse is ready, use a tablespoon to stuff the oranges with the mousse. Refrigerate the stuffed oranges for at least 3 hours and surprise your kids with this fun Halloween snack.
